Padang Brown Food Court (Medan Selera Padang Brown)

At the time of this writing, the oldest hawker center in Malaysia’s Penang state is the Padang Brown Food Court in George Town.

Named after Scottish Penang landowner David Brown, Padang Brown Food Court is an outdoor hawker center. Among the many Malay dishes served at the stalls here, Padang Brown is famous for its popiah, pasembur, chicken soup, and “steamboat” hot pot. According to many locals, the prices here can’t be beat!

The Padang Brown Food Court is open everyday from 5:30-11:30 pm.
