Summer Night Market (Queen Victoria Night Market)

One of Melbourne, Australia’s most acclaimed night markets is the Summer Night Market, which is held every Wednesday night from 5-10 pm during the months of November to March at the Queen Victoria Market.

One of a series of night markets held annually at QVM, the Summer Night Market is the largest of the series. According to their official website, the Summer Night Market is “Melbourne’s largest array of global street food, free live music and roving entertainers, specialty and vintage shopping”. Judging by the many thousands of people who flock here every Wednesday night during the summertime, their description is spot-on!

For the visitor with an empty stomach, foods of all kind ranging from American-style decadence such as donuts and candied apples to Asian cuisine from every nationality imaginable can be found at the Summer Night Market’s hawker stalls.

As far as shopping goes, the Summer Night Market has almost anything you could possibly want, especially in the way of handcrafted items. Imported Asian handicrafts, bath soaps and lotions,  handmade organic items (i.e. candles, pillows, and so on) made by local businesses, and art from local artists are among some of the many items you can find here!

All in all, the Summer Night Market is the place to go on a Wednesday evening in Melbourne to do some serious splurging, enjoy some live entertainment, browse and shop, and just live it up for a few hours!
