The Feng Chia (Fengjia; also informally called Wenhua Night Market) Night Market in the Taiwanese city of Taichung is one that deserves special mention in this directory because it has the distinction of being Taiwan’s largest night market.
After it was established in 1963, Feng Chia Night Market immediately started growing to serve the local military personnel stationed in and around the city of Taichung, as well as the university students and military and government personnel studying at the city’s universities.
The Feng Chia Night Market features over 160 stalls dedicated to food alone! All kinds of foods ranging from fried chicken to an assortment of ice creams to pepper breads to the famous “Feng Chia Four-in-One” dish (which features kumquat, jelly figs, tapioca, and lemon juice as the main ingredients) can be sampled at the stalls in this night market and with 160 stalls selling nothing buy food, there is certainly no shortages of places to pick up a late-night snack! Also, the Feng Chia Night Market is famous for being a good place to bargain some deals on an item you want very badly.
